You must comply with the yacht and ship brokers act in order to work as a yacht broker in the state of Florida. To comply you must first complete the Yacht Broker Salesperson Application which is regulated by the Yacht And Ship Brokers Section of DBPR Tallahassee Florida, they perform licensing, educational, and investigative proceedings. The Florida Yacht And Ship Brokers Act program has been in effect since October 1988 and was brought into action in order to protect the consumer, respond to complaints and inquiries concerning the yacht brokerage industry. Qualifications for a yacht broker salesperson:

  • More than five years commission sales experience

  • Knowledge of the Florida Yacht Brokerage Market

  • Basic to advanced yachting and seamanship skills including product knowledge

  • Yacht Sales experience as well as other high ticket products & services

  • Experience with basic to advanced business systems, CRM's, sales processes etc.

  • Basic computer skills as well as common programs and applications

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • A passion for the boating industry, closing deals, and building business
